After our trip to The Broad, our growling bellies led us on a walk to Grand Central Market. It was my first time visiting, and I completely loved it! So many options, bustling with people and dozens of smells. I definitely want to come back and try food from every stand!
Finally after months of trying, I was able to secure some tickets to The Broad. The architecture of the building is simply gorgeous and I couldn't help but marvel at the absolutely perfect light inside. I had such a wonderful day with Cat, a couple of her siblings, and our friend Asher. We spent the day downtown, with lunch at the Grand Central Market and a walk around the Walt Disney Music Hall. I fall more and more in love with Downtown every time I visit.
June Gloom has really been hanging on in the beginning of July - slightly sticky, humid mornings with enormous cloud cover. During my visit to San Diego to see Prestyn and Jason, I requested a little trip to the Dog Beach in Ocean Beach. It had been ages since I've spent a day there, and it brings me great happiness to watch dozens of dogs running about in pure joy.
Holly has a bit of fear when it comes to swimming but she did enjoy the cool water as a respite from the blaring sun, and enjoyed sitting on my stomach as a lookout perch (the silly girl!).
Grey or fair, windy or still, crowded or empty - Sunset Cliffs is one of my all-time favorite places to visit. I spent a lot of time in college, mostly alone, wandering the cliffs, walking far down at low tide. Hours spent watching the waves rolling in, the sun setting, and surfers paddling out.
This particular day was windy and cloudy but I enjoyed it all the same.
Holly is the sweetest little pug. In the past, when I've stayed with Prestyn on Catalina, she insists on snuggling with me. When I arrived in La Jolla, she went absolutely mad for about 15 minutes straight, jumping on me and giving me lots and lots of kisses. Isn't that face absolutely darling?
This is definitely not my first post at Sunset Cliffs, because it's one of my favorite spots in the world. In college, I would come here and pretend to study while really watching the surfers and being generally mesmerized by the waves. The morning that we ventured to this beautiful spot in San Diego's Ocean Beach, it was extremely cloudy but the views were still breath-taking.
I'm glad I was able to (begrudgingly) get a few snaps of this very beautiful couple. Prestyn and I have been friends since surviving Ms. Durnford's 10th grade English class, and I'm so appreciative to have this gentle, kind, nature-loving gal in my life.
